It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the National seminar on Nature in Literature to discuss the priority issues involved in the study of nature in literature. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to Prof. Dr. Marcus Diepen Boominathan, our beloved Principal, for honouring us with taking his busy time to preside over the Valediction Function of this important seminar, and I am very grateful to Dr.Krishnaswamy, Dean of Arts(Retd) from CIEFL, Hyderabad, Dr.Nirmal Selvamony, Reader in English, Madras Christian College, Chennai, for taking the time off from your busy schedule come to this seminar.
This National Seminar is being organised by the Research Department of English in collaboration with OSLE-India to provide an important forum for a wider group of literary scholars to discuss the significance of Nature in Literature. The material produced through this seminar will provide background material for several important activities of the departments of English through out India. The findings of the seminar will become a boon for the future researchers.

An event of this dimension cannot happen overnight. The wheels start rolling months in advance. It requires meticulous planning and execution and an eye for details. I have been fortunate enough to be backed by a team of very motivated and dedicated colleagues, who know their job and are result oriented. I cannot thank everyone enough for the involvement they have shown and the willingness they have expressed to take on the completion of tasks beyond their comfort zones.
